Library Harvest – 11/28/12

It was nice to get back to the library yesterday after being so busy in the weeks leading up to and around Thanksgiving. I can’t wait to read THE MONSTER WHO LOST HIS MEAN which I found during my usual raid of the New Books shelf. I also flipped through THE BUSY BEAVER and it looks hilarious. My 7-year-old grabbed a new LUNCH LADY book and HEDGIE BLASTS OFF which he said he read in first grade and wanted to read again.

What are you reading lately?

  1. My kids and I have been tee-heeing over Doreen Cronin’s early chapter book “The Trouble With Chickens”. So funny, even my sixth grader, joins in for a bed-time read-aloud where we rotate taking turns reading a page.

  2. You’re so lucky your library has a “new books” shelf. I have to do a search in my library. They don’t even know when their new books come out. But I did put a bunch on reservation. Looking forward to reading Goldilocks and the 3 Dinosaurs by Mo Willems and Noah Webster and His Words.

  3. I am so loving living in an Anglophone nation right now and near a fabulous library. I have been putting a lot of books on hold while searching the catalogue. I have just finished a book by Jo Knowles, Meet You at Harry’s – I think it is my favorite MG of the year!

  4. I treated myself to a couple pb purchases recently (local library is French). GOLDILOCKS AND JUST THE ONE BEAR by Leigh Hodgkinson (Nosy Crow), a new take on the fairy tale with a really fun twist, fun voice and illustrations; BEAR HAS A STORY TO TELL by Erin & Philip Stead (Andersen press), a lovely circular tale, calm and beautiful and fun that is so gorgeous to look at; and GIBBUS MOONY WANTS TO BITE YOU! by Leslie Muir & Jen Corace (Atheneum), a fun new take on vampires that has great words and word play that makes vampires accessible to little kids.
Loved looking at what you’re reading, Carrie!
